MOM Craft!

I got my craftiness (and cuteness) from my Mommy! She made this wine cork wreath the other day as a gift. It's pretty easy, and a good use for all of our corks!

Cost: Around $5 if you already have the corks!
Difficulty: Medium, only because it involves a drill

You'll Need:
Corks (about 22 for a full wreath, this one has about 12)
A drill with a tiny drill bit
Floral Wire
Small jingle bells (ours were a little bit too big)
Scissors or wire cutters
Ribbon to hang it at the end!

Step 1:
Drill a hole on each side of your corks. 2 on top, and 2 on bottom that MATCH UP with each other. Do all of them before you start to make the wreath.

(Oooh she used the fancy corks!)
 Step 2:
Start stringing the corks onto the floral wire at the TOP.

Put a jingle bell in between each cork as you go.

**Then string the bottoms together with another piece of wire. This will create your circle!**

Tie the wires together at the end to finish of the circle. Then, add a pretty ribbon so you can hang it up!

If my mom can do it, you can do it!! Good job, mommy!

Newspaper Leaf Wreath

This craft is the result of a beautiful wreath I saw on Martha Stewart and the fact that I started getting newspapers twice a week in an attempt to coupon. That has yet to happen. So you may be seeing a lot of Newspaper crafts on here :)

what you'll need: A wire wreath, newspaper, water color paints, glue, a stapler, scissors, and wire ribbon
difficulty level: medium
cost: $5

step one: make your leaves! I only wanted to use the type from the papers, not the pictures, so I cut out sections of articles as large as I could. You'll need them to be double layered or they will curl up all weird, so that's what your glue is for. Then get crazy painting. There is no real technique here.... just like when you were a kid. Let that dry completely

step two: accordion fold your paper pieces and cut multiple leaves at once. Different shapes and sizes.
step three: wrap your wire wreath in newspaper strips and staple to hold.
step four: staple your pretty leaves to the wreath. Repeat for a very long time.
step five: staple the center of your ribbon (about a yard and a half) and tie your bow. Trim the ends to a nice length.

Then hang it on the wall and rinse of your paintbrush :) Happy Fall!!!

Kayleigh vs the Yarn Wrapped Wreath

I've seen some really awesome yarn-wrapped wreaths all over the internet, so I thought I'd try it out. Turns out, it's ridiculously easy, and you have tons of options! I made a super simple, gray yarn wreath so that I could add pretty much anything to it (here I attached a vintage brooch). Let me show you how...
Difficulty level: super easy
Cost: $10 or less

You Need:
- a styrofoam wreath (mine is 9" diameter because I'm cheap and lazy)
-yarn of any color (I used left-over yarn from another project)
-scissors
-hot glue gun
-a ruler
-something to add on (brooch, fabric flowers, small wooden letters, etc)

Step One: Making the hanger
Cut three 12 inch pieces of yarn to braid together. Braid them, and tie off the ends.

Next, make a loop with your braid, and hot glue it to the back of your wreath like so...

Step Two: Start wrapping!!

Take the end of your ball of yarn and hot glue it on the back, near the hanging loop...

Then start wrapping it around the wreath, adding hot glue here and there to make sure it stays tight. Is there anything worse than loose yarn? Well... yeah, but not here!

Keep on wrapping.....

If it looks like that, you're half way there! Don't give up!
When you reach the end, add some more glue (making sure you end on the back), and cut off the excess yarn.

Last Step:
Add your decoration, and hang it up. I added a vintage brooch that I got for 50 cents. Again, I'm cheap and lazy, so there's that.

These wreaths are super versatile. You can make them in different holiday colors, your favorite sports team colors (not my thing, but whatever), you can add whatever you like. I've seen some with flowers, leaves, letters, tiny stuffed animals; pretty much if you can hot glue it, you can add it.

I was victorious with this craft, but be warned... it takes FOREVER (although not as long as the yarn covered letters--coming soon)
>>>Buy it pre-wrapped from our Etsy Shop if you don't want to wrap it, beause, let's be honest, who loves spending 2 hours wrapping yarn?
